Our Story

In 2013, at the age of 19 and deeply inspired by the ethos of Apple and Steve Jobs while working in the Apple Store, Matt Winn founded IRAS (Independent Recording Arts Society) in the heart of the Dallas-Fort Worth music scene. With a lifelong passion for music, having delved into recording and engineering since the age of 7, Matt envisioned a platform that would revolutionize support and recognition for independent artists, akin to The Grammys but dedicated to indie artists.
IRAS' journey began with its first major breakthrough - the Spring Break Bash in March 2013 in Deep Ellum, TX. This sold-out event not only set the stage for IRAS' initial roster of artists, including notable talents like Devy Stonez, Brandon Fxrd and Terrence Spectacle, but also marked IRAS as a catalyst for emerging artists.
The year 2013 was a cornerstone for IRAS, further strengthened by collaborations with talents like Parker Foster, a young videographer. December of the same year was highlighted by an event featuring a young Post Malone, showcasing IRAS’ ability to identify and nurture groundbreaking talent.
By 2014, IRAS had made significant inroads at SXSW, amplifying its influence in the music industry. The transformation into a comprehensive entertainment company, IRAS Entertainment, came in 2015, broadening our scope and capabilities, particularly with the signing of Danny Cainco, the launch of IRAS Coast Radio show on the UTD Radio and the successful rollout of Devy Stonez's album 'Rolling Stonez' in 2016.
Fast forward to 2024, IRAS’ catalog under Matt’s leadership has accumulated nearly 20 million streams across various music platforms. Remaining true to our roots, we continue to focus on artist empowerment, holistic development, and bridging the gap between technology and authentic artistic expression. Our mission is steadfast: to unearth and collaborate with the finest independent talents globally, leveraging art to foster social awareness and impact.

Our Success

  • The IRAS are young, hungry, talented, and dangerous. A collective of individual artists from surrounding Dallas suburbs who met via Soundcloud, they have their own in-house producers, an in-house videographer, and a site to distribute their content. Each artist has a unique sound, with their commonality lying in the contagious energy they all exude within what they do. For example, Devy $tonez is the well-rounded rap star, his delivery seemingly effortless, while Terrence Spectacle exists as a future pop star, ready for any local pop radio station’s Jingle Jam. Having recently put on a show entirely manned by them, the IRAS’ future looks quite promising.
